MUSINGS

They irony behind this outfit post and the title of the post is that not much contemplation went into the outfit at all. I was more distracted and overly-excited to go to the museum that I just wanted to look presentable, comfortable and functional. So, I literally threw on a sweater dress, some leggings, utility vest and a pair of chucks on a gloomy morning. On top of that, my options were pretty limited since it was storming and pouring, and I didn’t feel like wobbling around in rain boots. - Oh, and the Belvedere Castle behind me!

Now back to the excitement of my little trip to the Met. I’m there pretty much on a weekly basis, but I finally got to see the Costume Institute’s presentation of Schiaparelli & Prada. I know the Met Gala’s photographs have been all over the internet on who what who, but I’m more interested on the actual exhibit it’s centered on than the party. And let’s say, the exhibit was very beautifully executed. The dialog between the two designers of different eras was very engaging and thought provoking. I’ll most likely go back several more times just to see the wall of shoes and hats again!

SKORTS & PLEATS

Here’s an outfit I wore just before the rain hit the city.

Believe it or not, here’s another one of my trusty skorts. As I’ve said, I own quite a few because as much as I looove wearing tight spanx shorts under my skirts and dresses (note the sarcasm), I’d rather avoid the whole Jess from ‘New Girl’ situation of having to cut it off of my own body with a cake knife. If such a thing would ever even occur in my life (which actually is very probable), I’d avoid it by just wearing the skort.

So, here I am frolicking in the park with my long skort that is very convincing as a skirt. Plus it has pockets to hide lip balm and my phone (ahh… function in fashion). Since a skirt/skort at this length can sometimes look a bit matronly, I toned it down by wearing a graphic ripped muscle tee and belted it tight at my waist to still hold it to femininity and make a mini-peplum. Throw in a neon coral/orange bandeau and some simple silhouette of a sandal with some hardware, and you’ve got a good mash-up. If you can’t tell, I like making an identity crisis of an outfit. Keep it interesting, always!

FADED BLACK

Here’s a quick outfit post. I’ve been busy working on a few new pieces to put up on a collaboration inspiration blog I do with a close friend of mine (Fox & Minx). And here’s a sneak peek via what I’m wearing. The shorts are from our Fox & Minx shop, and this is the most plain of them all! I like it because it’s the perfect fade of black on the verge of grey. Will keep you posted on the shop.

Sorry for the slow-down in posts. On top of the collaboration I’m doing, it’s the boyfriend’s birthday and his graduation from his masters program. In need of a vacation soon!!!

I SPY…
Went to the cathedral on 110th and found out three peacocks live on the premises! Oh, New York, how you never cease to surprise me…
So, here are a few outfit pictures and some of me prowling/sneaking behind said peacocks. And look at the white one - So beautiful!

PIER 17

A spontaneous play date ended me up at the old Fulton Fish Market & Pier 17.

What I remembered most was at the end of the day, I found a brand new Comme des Garçons wallet in the middle of the street full of money and credit cards and I found myself in the middle of an adventure trying to find the guy’s apartment and waited there like a creep to give him back his wallet. One up on the Karma, minus one for being a creeper! It was more exciting to see the look of absolute relief on that guy’s face. Sad thing was that he offered to give me a hundred dollars for bringing it back, it’s sad because we live in a world where people feel the need to pay someone for bringing their own wallet back! It’s cooler to think that my good deed brings another through my receiver’s.

Anyway, enough of my story-telling. Here are a few photographs taken before my “find the wallet owner’s house” adventure: the view from Pier 17 of Brooklyn/Bridge, my outfit in multiple shots, a common girl walking away street pose and a trompe l’œil (fun)
